PARSONS -- Tucker County used two first-half touchdowns en route to a 14-0 win over Pendleton County in front of the homecoming crowd Friday night at R.H. Armstrong Memorial Field at Class of 1984 Alumni Stadium.
It was the first shutout win for the Mountain Lions since a 7-0 victory at Northern (Md.) in 2018, and also ended a three-game losing skid against the Wildcats.
An interception by J.J. Knotts set up Tucker County's first score with 7:12 left in the first quarter as freshman Jared Reall scooted in from 1-yard out to make it 8-0 after the two-point conversion.
Early into the second quarter, the Mountain Lions struck again when Ethan Rosenau hit Maddox Anderson for a 31-yard connection. The two-point conversion failed.
The Mountain Lions are now 2-4 and will be idle until entertaining Southern (Md.) on Oct. 15.
Pendleton County (1-3) will host Tygarts Valley next Friday.
Grafton 46, Elkins 13
GRAFTON -- Quarterback Tanner Moats found the end zone three times to lead Grafton to a 46-13 win over Elkins Friday night at McKinney Field.
The Bearcats (4-2) led 7-0 after the first quarter before striking for three touchdowns in the second quarter to take control.
Arron Barker, Justin Spiker and Moats, who also had a 1-yard TD in the opening canto, all had scoring runs as Grafton carried a 27-0 lead into the intermission.
Isaac Lough added a pair of TD runs and Moats his third of the night in the second half for the hosts.
Todd Vandevender had a 39-yard touchdown pass to Cayden Ramirez and Andrew McGilberry a two-yard scoring run to account for the Tiger second-half scores
Elkins is scheduled to play its first home game since 2019 next Friday against North Marion at the EHS field.
