CHARLESTON -- Philip Barbour advanced to the Class AA championship by outlasting Herbert Hoover in five sets in Friday night's semifinals inside the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center.
The second-seeded Lady Colts (48-7-2) will face top-seed and defending state champion Shady Spring (42-3-1) today. The squads split their two matches during the regular season.
Philip Barbour took Friday's first set in the semifinals, 25-16, before Hoover responded with a 26-24 win.

In Friday's quarterfinal match, the Lady Colts claimed a 3-0 win over No. 7 Point Pleasant in straight sets, 25-18, 25-8, 25-9.
Shady Spring breezed to the title game, besting No. 8 Frankfort 3-0 (25-8, 25-4, 25-12) in the quarterfinals and knocking off fifth-seed Oak Glen in straight sets, 25-14, 25-11, 25-21, in semifinal action.
The Class A title match between top-seed Ritchie County and No. 2 Williamstown start today's action at 9:30 a.m., followed 45 minutes later by the Class AA title game.
The Class AAA title matchup between No. 1 Musselman and second-seed Hedgesville will be contested 45 minutes after the conclusion of the Class AA championship.
