EHS swimmers best Philip Barbour

The Lady Tigers’ Rachel Shryock won both the 500 freestyle and 50 freestyle on Wednesday evening.

ELKINS -- The Elkins High School swim teams claimed wins over Philip Barbour Wednesday night at George A. Myles pool on the Davis & Elkins College campus.

The Tigers, behind two first-place finishes each from Isaac Anger and Luke Anger, claimed a 116-32 victory, while the EHS girls used a pair of first-place efforts from Rachel Shryock in a 90-70 win.

First-place finishers for the EHS boys were Lee Chua in the 200 freestyle (2:39.05), Isaac Anger in the 200 IM (2:04.65) and 100 freestyle (50.16), Luke Anger in the 50 freestyle (25.18) and 100 butterfly (59.83), Charlie Smoak in the 500 freestyle (6:19.89), Braxton Kenney in the 100 backstroke (1:09.74) and Izaak Whetsell in the 100 breaststroke (1:24.83).

Kenney, Isaac Anger, Luke Anger and Smoak took the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:55.52 and Luke Anger, Isaac Anger and Smoak joined Whetsell in winning the 200 freestyle in 1:43.62.

Smoak, Andres Maston, Kenney and Whetsell swam to first in the 400 freestyle relay with an effort of 4:24.58.

Jayden Starks placed second in the 100 butterfly for Philip Barbour in a time of 1:08.32, John McGee was runner-up in the 100 freestyle (1:07.49) and Preston Swift second in the 500 freestyle (6:52.35).

Xander Kline, McGee, Starks and Swift were second in the 200 medley relay (2:22.06).

Placing first for the Lady Tigers were Anna Crumm in the 200 freestyle (2:35.61), Joslyn DeWeese in the 200 IM (2:47.35), Shryock in the 50 freestyle (26.36) and 500 freestyle (5:53.77) and Isabelle Judy in the 100 butterfly (1:12.51).

In the relay events, the team of DeWeese, Judy, Shryock and Edwards was first in the 200 medley (2:07.73) and first in the 400 freestyle (4:18.99).

The Lady Colts received firsts from MacKenna Halfin in the 100 freestyle (1:04.02), the 200 freestyle relay of Raeanna Davies, Layna Grassi, Magnolia Shiflett and Halfin in a time of 1:55.49 and Shiflett in the 100 backstroke (1:09.47)
