Lady Warriors open with victory over East Hardy

DUNMORE -- The Pocahontas County High School girls basketball team opened the season with a 38-24 victory over East Hardy on Tuesday night.
The Lady Warriors held a slim 16-13 lead at halftime before outscoring the Lady Cougars, 15-4, in the third canto to open up a 30-18 advantage.
Sophomore Olivia Vandevender led Pocahontas County with 14 points.
Senior Makayla Ervine and junior Haley Spencer added seven each.
Spencer added nine rebounds and senior Macaden Taylor eight in the win.
Vandevender also had three steals and four steals, Ervine six steals and senior Allyson Alderman five steals.
Brooklyn Tinnell had 10 points for East Hardy.
Pocahontas County will visit Pendleton County at 7:30 p.m. today.
