Senator players honored

Estrada-Avila, Cerezo named All-Americans

POMONA, Calif. -- Senior defender Alex Estrada-Avila and junior forward Daniel Cerezo were among six Atlantic Region men's soccer players to earn 2021 All-America honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association .

The duo led the Senators to a historic season that saw the team finish with an overall season record of 18-2-2, an undefeated regular season and regular season Mountain East Conference Championship and a deep run into the NCAA Tournament. Both were named first-team all-Region this season.

Cerezo led the country in game-winning goals and led the MEC in shots on goal, goals and game-winning goals. He was named the MEC's Offensive Player of the Year this season.

Estrada led the Senators' defensive front that ranked first in the country in shutout percentage and gave up a mere .594 goals against average (second in the country). Estrada was named the MEC's Defensive Player of the Year.

Lock Haven's Beckham Libiski, Mercyhurst's Sidney Warden, Gannon's Sergio Del Castillo and Charleston's Alexis Ledoux were the other Atlantic Region honorees.

Rade Novakovich of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside was named the Ron Lenz National Player of the Year.

Sports Information Directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men's soccer selected the D2 CCA All-America Team. The process begins at the regional level with all First Team All-Region picks advancing to the national ballot. This marks the 15th year that teams have been selected since the All-America program began in 2006.
