Strong second half lifts RCB by Colts, 52-40

CLARKSBURG -- Class AAA, No. 7 Robert C. Byrd used a strong second half to get past Philip Barbour, 52-40, Wednesday night in Big 10 play.

The Colts (1-2) led 20-15 at halftime but were outscored 19-8 in the third as the Flying Eagles carried a 34-28 advantage into the third frame.

Maurice Garrison scored 12 of his game-high 19 points in the final quarter to help RCB (1-0) pull away.

Jesiah Matlick had nine points, Cody Cooper eight and Jayden Herron five for Philip Barbour. Freshman Trenton Bodkins chipped in eight rebounds and four points.

The Colts will make their home debut at 7:30 p.m. Friday against another Class AAA ranked team in No. 10 Grafton.
