ELKINS -- Class AAA, No. 9 Philip Barbour rallied in the fourth quarter to hold off a determined Elkins squad, 47-44, Thursday night in Big 10 Conference play at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.
The Lady Colts (13-6) used a strong performance from LaDonna Herron in the final canto as the sophomore sharpshooter scored all of her 11 points in the frame.
Her third 3-pointer in the quarter gave the Lady Colts the lead for good at 35-32 with 3:30 left in regulation.
The Lady Tigers (5-15) trailed by as many as eight points with 1:16 left but cut the lead to 47-44 on a trey by Jaylen Florence with less than a second remaining.
Elkins got the ball back on a Philip Barbour turnover but a trey at the buzzer was just off the mark.
Florence led the Lady Tigers, who led 20-17 at halftime and 29-26 after three quarters, with 16 points, followed by a strong effort from Emerson Haddix, who scored 14 on the night.
Herron, Braylyn Sparks and Averi Carpenter all had 11 points for the Lady Colts, who begin Region II, Section 1 play Wednesday at East Fairmont.
Elkins, which defeated Grafton, 44-31, on Wednesday night, ventures to Lincoln at 7 p.m. Saturday for its Region II, Section 2 tourney opener.
In the JV game, Elkins claimed 57-46 win to finish the season with a 11-4 record.
Addy Cogar had 15 and Maddie Belan 14 for the Lady Tigers,
Carli Cvechko led the Lady Colts with 19 points.
