ELKINS -- Elkins High School's Cory Harper has landed a spot on the Class AAA all-state second team as voted on by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.
The junior swingman averaged 19.2 points in helping lead the Tigers to a 21-4 record and berth in the co-regional finals.
Shady Spring's Braden Chapman is the captain of the first team. The junior standout averaged 15.5 points per game and was stellar in his three state tournament games averaging almost 22 points.
His layup with 11 seconds remaining had given the Tigers their first lead of the fourth quarter in the state title game against Fairmont Senior.
However, sophomore guard Zycheus Dobbs helped the Polar Bears pull off what many thought to be the unthinkable.
Dobbs, also a first-team selection, rolled in a floater as time expired for a thrilling 60-59 win. He averaged 14.6 points in the regular season.
Seven of the eight first-team selections guided their respective teams to the state tournament in Charleston.
