ELKINS -- Barbour County claimed the Elkins Middle School tournament held Saturday at Robin Harvey Memorial Field.
Barbour County (9-2) defeated Tygarts Valley, 14-4, in five innings and Pendleton County, 21-0, in three innings.
Kent Rowan and Caleb Kirkpatrick each had three RBIs for Barbour County in the win over the Bulldogs, while Kale Wolfe was 4 for 4 with a pair of RBIs, Landyn Carpenter 2 for 2 with an RBI and Malachi Cross and Slaton Harris each drove in a run.
Wolfe went all five innings to earn the win, allowing eight hits and fanning eight.
Austin Teter had two RBIs for Tygarts Valley and Austin Wilson and Haden Sharp each knocked in a run.
Owen Bell took the loss.
The Bulldogs defeated Elkins, 12-2, in five innings in their second game on Saturday, placing second in the tourney.
Teter and Preston Smith each drove in two runs for Tygarts Valley.
Adam Woods went all five frames to garner the win, allowing three hits and fanning six.
Owen Stanley was saddled with the loss for the Hornets, striking out six over four innings.
Jayden Harding, Preston Eversole and Braden Cooper all had one hit each for Elkins.
The Hornets rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie Pendleton County, 4-4, in their first contest on Saturday. The game ended after six innings due to the time limit.
Blayne Thompson had two hits an RBI single in the sixth for Elkins. Jakob Shiflett also had an RBI.
Tygarts Valley (7-2) also defeated Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School, 5-4, Friday night in Mill Creek on Teter's walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
