PHILIPPI -- Friday's poor weather and more rain projected for today has pushed back play in the Class AA, Region II, Section 1 softball tournament.

Philip Barbour has already secured a spot in the title game with wins over Robert C. Byrd and top-seed Lincoln.

The title game was slated to be held today, with the Lady Colts needing just one victory to secure the sectional crown.

RCB will now travel to Lincoln at 6 p.m. Monday in the loser's bracket finale.

If the Lady Flying Eagles win, Tuesday's championship game will be held at Philip Barbour, while a Lady Cougar victory sends the title game to Shinnston.

RCB, which eliminated Elkins on Wednesday, stayed alive with a 3-1 win over Liberty on Thursday as Fran Alvaro tossed a six-hitter, striking out 13.

Gina Alvaro added a solo homer and Avery Childers a pair of hits and an RBI double.

Emma Kyle had a solo blast for the Lady Mountaineers in the setback.

In section 2 play, Herbert Hoover clinched the title by blanking Lewis County, 8-0, on Thursday.

The Lady Huskies, who didn't surrender a run in three sectional wins, will face the section 1 victor in a best-of-three regional series set to be held May 16-21.

The state tournament takes place May 25-26 at Little Creek Park in South Charleston.
