Elkins’ Smoak, PB’s Dadisman win multiple regional titles

WESTON -- Elkins High School's Charlie Smoak and Philip Barbour's Grant Dadisman won multiple events at the Class AA, Region II track and field meet held Wednesday at Lewis County High School.
Smoak, a senior, captured regional titles in both the 3,200 (10:20.20) and the 1,600 (4:42.12).
He also joined senior Luke Anger, freshman Isaac Anger and senior Tyler McKisic in claiming first in the 4×800 with an effort of 9:00.29.
Luke Anger ran to first place in the 800 with a time of 2:10.40, while senior Jayden Shreve earned a state berth by finishing third in the 100 (11.93).
Shreve, juniors Isaiah Sigley and Zane George and sophomore Gavin Boland placed second in the 4×200 relay in a time of 1:38.92.
Dadisman, meanwhile, helped guide the Colts to a second-place showing.
The senior won the 100 (11.64), the 200 (23.95) and the 400 (53.01).
He was also a member of the 4×400 relay unit, along with junior Jacob Davies, freshman Drew Morral and senior Matthew Croston, which placed first in a time of 3:42.12
The 4×100 unit of Davies, sophomores Brandan Carpenter and Kevin Knotts and Croston earned a state berth with a third-place showing in a time of 47.46.
Other Philip Barbour state qualifiers included junior DeShawn Webster, second in the long jump (19-05.50), sophomore Keaton McDermott, second in the shot put (38-00), senior Jesse Farris, third in the discus (104-05), and Davies in the 400 (at-large time of 53.71).
Roane County took team honors with 109 points, followed by Philip Barbour (87), Clay County (80), Lincoln (78), Elkins (72), Robert C. Byrd (70), Lewis County (58) and Liberty (3).
The Class AA portion of the state meet takes place Wednesday evening and Thursday at University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field.
