Post 29 uses 14-hit attack to best Post 7

TENNERTON -- Elkins Post 29 pounded out 14 hits to claim a 15-6 win over Buckhannon Wednesday night in Area 5 action at William E. Philipps Memorial Field.

Albert Gonzales led Post 29 at the plate, going 3 for 4 and driving in four runs. Matthew Pratt added three RBIs and Mason Kisamore and Lincoln Scott each knocked in two runs.

Gonzales cracked a bases-clearing triple in the fourth.

Brady Hurst had two RBIs for Post 7, while Payton Bennett went 3 for 3 and scored a pair of runs.

Buckhannon trailed 7-0 before plating a single run in the second and four more in the third to cut the deficit to 7-5.

But Post 29 answered with eighth runs in the fourth to open up a 15-5 cushion.

Miles Hutzler worked 3 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win, allowing just one run on two hits and fanning two.

Pratt went the first 2 2/3 frames, giving up five runs on five hits and recording five strikeouts.

Isaac Lane took the loss, allowing six runs on three hits. He struck out three.

Hurst and Tucker Burr finished in relief.

Elkins is now 2-5 overall and 1-0 in Area 5 action.

Buckhannon dropped to 6-9 and 0-1 in Area 5 play.
