MARTINSBURG -- The Elkins Little League 11-12-year-old All-Stars were eliminated from state tournament play in a 13-3 setback to Martinsburg Sunday at Oatesdale Park.
Elkins, the District 8 runner-ups, had opened tourney action with a 13-1 loss to Barboursville Friday in Mountaineer Bracket play.
Spots in the championship round were up for grabs on Monday, as Bridgeport faced Ona-Milton in a Herd Bracket winner's contest, with the victor moving on and the loser meeting Jefferson later in the evening for the other championship-round berth.
In the Mountaineer Bracket winner's game, Shinnston/Clarksburg faced Hurricane on Monday for a spot in the championship round.
The loser of that game met Barboursville for the the other championship berth out of the Mountaineer Bracket.
The championship round begins today at 5:30 p.m. The winners of those two games meet in Wednesday's title game and berth in regional action as the state's representative.
