MORGANTOWN -- Parkersburg Post 15 eliminated Buckhannon Post 7 from the American Legion state tournament with a 9-1 victory Thursday afternoon at Dale Miller Field at Mylan Park.
Post 7 concluded the season 14-19, going 1-2 in the tournament and knocking off host Morgantown Post 2 in its first game.
Dylan Holliday tossed a complete-game six-hitter for Parkersburg to earn the win on the mound, striking out six and not issuing a walk.
Brett Haskins went 4 for 4 and drove in two runs to lead Post 15 at the plate.
Bentley Kinzer, Evan Swain, Brodie Wiggins, Carter King and Andrew Woofter added RBIs.
Ian Donnen worked the first three innings in taking the loss. He allowed seven runs on seven hits and struck out two.
In a contest delayed in the third inning due to rain, Post 7 trailed 7-0 before denting the scoreboard in the top of the fourth when Grant Mealey singled and later raced home on the throw when Zach Calef-Boring stole second.
Parkersburg tacked on two more runs in the fifth.
Calef-Boring had a pair of hits to lead Buckhannon, while Eli Bryant, Mealey, Gage Parsons and Wyatt Mason all had one hit apiece.
In Thursday's second game, Morgantown Post 2 stayed alive with a 3-1 win over Berkeley County Post 14.
Parkersburg will now face South Charleston, which is 2-0 in the tournament, at 1 p.m. today.
If Post 94 wins, it will face Morgantown in the championship game at 4 p.m. needing just one win to take a title. A second title game will be held at noon on Saturday, if necessary.
A Parkersburg victory will send South Charleston into an elimination game against Morgantown at 4 p.m. today, with the winner meeting Post 15 at noon on Saturday in the title game.
