ELKINS -- Elkins placed third in a highly contested Big 10 Conference triangular match held Monday at the Elks Golf Course.
The Tigers carded a team-total 184, while East Fairmont took top honors with a 172 -- just two strokes less than Preston's 174.
"It was a good battle of three Big 10 teams," Elkins coach Dave Baird said. "I was happy to see Dylan (Hinzman) and Brooke (Tallman) both play well today."
Tanner Miller led the Tigers with a 42, followed by Drew Hinzman (45), Tallman (48), Dylan Hinzman (49), Lucas D'Angelo (51) and Danica Riggins (54).
"It was nice to have four scores in the 40s," Baird said. "Hopefully we can do this now on the road on Wednesday."
East Fairmont's Tanner Bartholow fired a 38 to earn low-medalist honors. Teammate Blake Hunt was just one stroke behind with a 39.
Briar Manko led Preston with a 41.
The Tigers will travel to Green Hills Country Club at 4 p.m. Wednesday to battle North Marion.
