Tiger golfers place third in Big 10 Conference quad match

FAIRMONT -- Elkins finished third in a Big 10 Conference quad match held Monday at the Fairmont Field Club.

The Tigers carded a team-total 197 and were led by Tanner Miller with a 45.

Lucas D'Angelo shot a 47, followed by Danica Riggins (51), Brooke Tallman (54), Andrew Hinzman (56) and Dylan Hinzman.

Fairmont Senior took top honors with a 175 and was led by Landen Barkley's low-medalist score of 41.

Logan Huffman added a 43, Caden Musgrove a 44 and Gianna Koski a 47.

East Fairmont placed third with a team-score 190.

Blake Hunt tallied a 43 and Tanner Bartholow a 47 to lead the Bees.

Grafton was fourth with a 202.

Aiden Shome had a 46 and Dustin Keener a 47 to pace the Bearcats on the day.

"Our team was playing well and then it rained for about 30 minutes," EHS coach Dave Baird said. "We then had trouble adjusting to the wet conditions."

The Tigers will venture to Big Bend Golf Course in Kanawha County at 9 a.m. on Wednesday to compete in the Big 10-Cardinal Conference Invitational.

Elkins is then scheduled to visit Buckhannon-Upshur at 4 p.m. on Monday.
