ELKINS -- The Elkins Middle School boys soccer team garnered a 1-1 tie with Robert L. Bland Monday night at Tiger Stadium.
The Patriots led 1-0 before the Hornets drew even when Tristan Whited made a pass to Lincoln Fletcher, who found Amari Lonon for the goal late into the 58th minute.
"We had a feeling we would have to play a very defensive game," EMS coach Ariel Valentine said. "Everyone played their role and played it well.
"They played with intensity and finally came together as a team."
Tucker Cutright was solid in goal in the win, with Lonon, Chiron Wing, Fletcher, Logan Rowan and Isaac Shepler providing a strong defensive line.
