D&E men blank Concord; Lady Senator rally falls short

ELKINS -- Davis & Elkins posted a 6-0 win over Concord Wednesday evening in MEC play at Nuttall Field.

Alex Estrada-Avila converted a penalty kick in the 24th minute as the Senators led 1-0 at the half.

D&E erupted for five goals in the second half. Daniel Cerezo had two scores and Haruki Yamazaki, Estrada-Avila and Juan Cardona one apiece.

Viktor Sulc had two stops in earning the shutout in goal.

The Senators (11-1-0, 10-1-0) are ranked sixth in this week's poll after recently falling from the top spot after a 4-0 setback at Notre Dame College.

D&E returns to action at 7 p.m. Sunday at Alderson Broaddus for another MEC match.

Concord 4, D&E 3

A late rally fell just short as Davis & Elkins dropped a 4-3 decision to Concord Wednesday night in MEC play at Nuttall Field.

The Lady Senators (6-5-1, 5-5-1 MEC) trailed 3-0 before mounting a comeback.

Nao Kawaski connected for two straight goals to cut the lead to 4-2 in the 72:10 and 75:26 minutes, respectively.

With 4:20 left in regulation, Madison Rose found the back of the net but D&E came no closer.

Seika Ikezoe, Alexa Karsel and Tamsin Medd-Gill tallied assists on the three goals.

Jayme Millard and Rachel Bell had two goals each for the Lady Mountain Lions (8-4-1, 6-4-1 MEC).

D&E visits West Virginia State at 6 p.m. Saturday.
