ELKINS -- With a big matchup with Philip Barbour looming, the Elkins High School girls soccer team took care of business with a 12-0 win over sectional foe Braxton County Tuesday night at Tiger Stadium.
The Lady Tigers, second in this week's Class AA-A rankings, were led by Addy Cogar, who netted a hat trick.
Cogar had two goals in the first half, while Layla Fletcher, Laney Fletcher, Haylie Doyle, Kennedy Hart and Audrina Shelton also found the back of the net as Elkins led 7-0 at halftime.
Cogar, Alexa Price, Laney Fletcher, Danica Riggins (PK) and Shelton added scores after the intermission.
The Lady Tigers are now 11-2-1 overall and travel to third-ranked Philip Barbour at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
A clear winner of the contest between the rivals will capture the Big 10 Conference title.
"It should be quite a night," Lady Tigers coach Scott Cutright said. "Two very good local teams will battle for the Big 10 title."
Cutright added a tie between the foes could signal other tie-breaking scenarios.
"I think it pretty much comes down to us or Philip Barbour from what I can gather," he said. "They only have one conference loss and we have two ties in league action.
"They have a very good team and it will be a challenge for us for sure."
Elkins has games next week against Buckhannon-Upshur and Pocahontas County to conclude the regular season.
In the boys game, Max Jackson tallied a pair of goals to lead Elkins to a 3-1 victory over Braxton County.
Hayden Ferguson also had a goal for the Tigers, who improved to 7-4-2 on the season.
The Tigers led 2-0 at halftime and 3-0 before the Eagles found the back of the net in the second half.
Elkins visits Philip Barbour at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday for a Big 10 contest.
