Mountain Lions drop one spot in ratings

Despite overtime loss to East Fairmont, Philip Barbour remains among the top 16 in Class AA

PARKERSBURG -- Tucker County dropped one spot in this week's WVSSAC playoff ratings released on Tuesday.

The Mountain Lions (6-0) fell to fifth in Class A after defeating Moorefield last Friday.

Williamstown (6-0), Wheeling Central (6-0), James Monroe (6-0) and Doddridge County (6-0) comprise the top five, along with the Mountain Lions, who visit Southern (Md.) this Friday night.

Despite dropping an overtime decision to East Fairmont last Friday, Philip Barbour (3-3) remained among the top 16 in double-A.

The Colts, who travel to River (Ohio) on Friday, are tied with Point Pleasant and Lewis County, which visits Philip Barbour on Oct. 21.

The 4-2 Bees, who were tied with the Colts for 13th last week, jumped to 10th and are tied with Herbert Hoover (4-2).

Scott (7-0), Roane County (6-0), Independence (6-0), North Marion (6-1) and Winfield (5-1) make up the top five.

Musselman tops the Class AAA ratings and is followed by Parkersburg South (5-1), Cabell Midland (5-1), Huntington (5-1) and Hurricane (5-1).

The top 16 teams in each class qualify for the state playoffs.
