Tigers to play final home game tonight

EHS will celebrate Senior Night vs. Lincoln as work on track at Tiger Stadium puts team on road rest of season

ELKINS -- Elkins will celebrate Senior Night this evening when Lincoln visits Tiger Stadium for a 7 p.m. contest.

Due to the weather and the schedule with the sub-contractor Beynon for the field turf at Tiger Stadium, the track needs to be surfaced and to do it properly, 50 degrees or warmer temperatures are needed, a release from EHS athletic director Ross Ware stated.

Therefore, the Tigers' final two home against Frankfort and Fairmont Senior will now be played as away games.

The work on the track will begin on Thursday, Oct. 20, and last approximately three to four weeks.

Elkins (1-5) faces a Cougar squad in the mix for a Class AA playoff berth as they are rated 13th with a 4-2 mark.

The Tigers are coming off a 44-7 setback last week at No. 4 North Marion.

Todd Vandevender's 58-yard TD pass to Nick Bowers accounted for Elkins' score.

In other action tonight, Buckhannon-Upshur hosts Oak Hill for Homecoming at Freal "Red" Crites Memorial Stadium, Philip Barbour travels to River (Ohio) and Tucker County ventures to Southern (Md.).

Tygarts Valley is idle.

The injury-plagued Bucs are coming off a 35-34 OT loss at Lewis County and look to halt a three-game skid when they host Oak Hill for a 7:30 p.m. contest.

The Red Devils are 4-3 and 18th in the Class AAA playoff ratings.

Philip Barbour travels to Hannibal, Ohio, to face River for the first-ever meeting between the teams.

The Colts (3-3) dropped a 34-33 overtime decision to East Fairmont in their last outing.

The Pilots bring a 7-1 record into the contest, their lone blemish coming to unbeaten Barnesville (Ohio).

Class A, No. 6 Tucker County put its unbeaten mark on the line with a trip to Southern (Md.).

The Mountain Lions (6-0) are led by junior Ethan Rosenau, who has thrown for 1,330 yards and 18 touchdowns, while sophomore Jared Reall leads the ground game with 410 yards and 10 scores and junior Maddox Anderson has hauled in eight touchdown passes.

Senior Dom Mullenax and Reall have made 51 and 49 total tackles, respectively, to lead the defense.

The Rams are 1-5 on the year.
