FAIRMONT -- Work on the track at Tiger Stadium puts Elkins on the road for the rest of the season, including a date with Class AA, No. 8 and two-time state champion Fairmont Senior this evening.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. at historic East-West Stadium.
The contest had to be played tonight due to East Fairmont, which shares the same playing field with the Polar Bears, having a home contest against Lewis County on Friday.
The Tigers (1-7) are led on offense by the running of sophomore Nick Bowers and Javier Rosario, while junior Todd Vandevender will be under center.
Sophomore linebacker Riley Rider is among the top tacklers on defense.
Elkins will be playing its fourth straight game against Class AA squads currently among the top 10 in the WVSSAC playoff ratings.
The Tigers dropped a 50-13 verdict at No. 6 Frankfort last Friday.
Fairmont Senior (5-3) was idle last week after blanking Robert C. Byrd, 38-0, on Oct. 14.
Dylan Ours rushed for 116 yards and scored on TD runs of 60 and 42 in the victory, while quarterback Brody Whitehair threw for 235 yards with two scoring passes, including a 44-yard connection to Ours a 56-yard strike to Trey Longwell.
The Tigers conclude the regular season next Friday night at old rival Buckhannon-Upshur.
