Vincent set for big season in the pool

TENNERTON -- After signing with the University of Alabama earlier this month, Buckhannon-Upshur's Cadence Vincent can fully concentrate on having another big season in the pool this winter.
Vincent and the B-U swim team recently opened the season at the Bridge Sports Complex.
The Lady Bucs placed third out of 12 teams. Three-time state champion George Washington won the team title.
Vincent placed first in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.89 and first in the 100 freestyle (52.06).
She was also a member of the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays that placed second in times of 2:05.82 and 1:52.26, respectively.
Vincent is a seven-time state champion and state record holder in the 50 and 100-yard freestyles, a school record holder in seven different events, a three-time Big 10 Conference Swimmer of the Year and has received several national honors.
Vincent, who was courted by more than 30 Division I offers, is also a four-time National YMCA qualifier, placing among the top 14 in four events in a two-year span, a seven-time high-point winner and multi record holder in the NCWV Swimming Championships and a five-time high-point winner and record holder in the SEOWV Swimming Championships.
She is a 4.2 GPA student and has volunteered her time for several groups and events in the community, including the Parish House, pandemic food distribution, Disability Action Center in Fairmont and several autism awareness events.
