MOOREFIELD -- Devin Hulver and Owen Stanley had 10 points each as the Elkins Middle School varsity squad claimed a 49-43 win over Moorefield on Thursday night.
Dreyton Boggs and Licoln Fletcher chipped in nine apiece for the Hornets.
Roscoe Dean had 15 and Kail Greenwalt 12 for the Yellow Jackets.
"It was a hard-fought game," EMS coach Levi Fletcher said. "The kids really dug deep and showed a lot of heart.
"Clutch free throws down the stretch sealed the win for us, and it was a good victory for the program."
Moorefield took the junior varsity game, 46-21, as Holden Crites bucketed 13 points.
Elijah Bennett led the Hornets with 11 points.
Elkins hosts East Fairmont on Tuesday.
