Tucker County, Philip Barbour and Petersburg girls set for state play

CHARLESTON — Tucker County, Philip Barbour and Petersburg are set to take the court of the Charleston Coliseum & Convention floor this week for state tourney action.
The second-seeded Lady Mountain Lions begin Class A quarterfinal play at 7:15 p.m. today against No. 7 Tolsia.
Tucker County (19-2) is making its 19th straight trip to the state tournament.
The Lady Mountain Lions are led by all-stater and Wheeling University signee Kadie Colebank, who averages 17 points and 15 rebounds per game.
Junior guard Macy Helmick hits for 12 points per game and junior guard Brylee Wetzel 9.6 ppg.
The Lady Rebels are in the state tourney for the first time since 2016 and are led by Kerigan Salmons, Amber Stevens and Emily Artrip.
On Thursday at 9:30 a.m., the sixth-seeded Lady Colts (14-10) will battle No. 3 East Fairmont (23-2) for the third time this season when they meet in a Class AAA quarterfinal contest.
Philip Barbour is led in scoring by senior Averi Carpenter and junior Braylyn Sparks, each averaging 10 points per game.
Junior guard Kenly Rogers buckets 18.7 points per outing for the Lady Bees, who defeated the Lady Colts in the two previous meetings this season.
Sixth-seed Petersburg (13-9) met No. 3 St. Marys at 9:30 a.m. today in a Class AA quarterfinal matchup.
Senior Braylee Corbin and senior Kennedy Kapsosy lead the Lady Viking in scoring at 16.2 and 12.1 points per game, respectively.
Addie Davis, Breanna Price and Zoe Davis all average around 12 points each for the Lady Blue Devils (17-7).
