Drennen works six scoreless innings in 3-1 Big 10 win

ELKINS -- Jaxon Drennen allowed just one hit over six scoreless innings as Elkins claimed a 3-1 win over North Marion Monday in Big 10 Conference play.

Drennen struck out nine and walked four.

Cameron Biller worked the seventh, allowing one run on one hit and fanning two to earn the save.

The Tigers ended the scoreless contest by plating a single run in the fourth when Ethan Humphrey singled in Michael Love.

Elkins tacked on two more runs in the sixth as Biller scored on a wild pitch and Drennen plated Gavin Carr, who had doubled, on a sacrifice fly.

The Huskies picked up an unearned run in the seventh.

Alex Rhoades went the first five innings for North Marion, allowing just one run on two hits and fanning three with no walks.

Cody Hess went one inning, giving up two runs on two hits.

Carr, Biller, Humphrey and Lincoln Scott accounted for the Tigers' four hits.

Will Lemasters had a double for the Huskies.

Elkins, which concluded its trip to Myrtle Beach as part of the Ripken Experience on Saturday, is now 2-6 on the season.

The Tigers are slated to visit Fairmont Senior today and remain on the road Thursday at Robert C. Byrd for a pair of Big 10 contests.

They will return home on Friday to face Tygarts Valley in a battle of Randolph County squads.
