Halfin having early pitching success for Colts

PHILIPPI -- Through the first eight games of the season, Philip Barbour's Mason Halfin has recorded a pair of complete-game victories.
The senior left-hander allowed just four hits, fanned seven and issued one walk in a 4-0 win over Grafton in his first outing of the season.
He then went all five innings as the Colts cruised to a 12-1 win over Liberty last Wednesday.
Halfin gave up four hits in the win, fanning four and walking one.
In 12 innings, Halfin has gave up eight hits and one run, with 11 strikeouts and an ERA of less than one.
When not on the mound, Halfin plays first base or in the outfield.
Halfin also played golf in the fall for Philip Barbour and participated in the state tournament as a junior when the Colts qualified as a team.
Philip Barbour is now 3-5 on the season after back-to-back wins against Big 10 Conference foes Liberty and Lincoln.
The Colts have a busy spring break week ahead, hosting Bridgeport this evening, traveling to Preston on Thursday and then returning home to face Robert C. Byrd on Friday and a battling Spring Mills for a doubleheader on Saturday.
