Hornets split with Petersburg
PETERSBURG — The Elkins Middle School baseball team split games against Petersburg on Saturdaya.
The Hornets rolled to a 20-2 win in the opening game, before dropping a 4-2 verdict in the latter contest.
Dreyton Boggs had three hits, including a triple, and drove in five runs to lead Elkins in the first game.
Trevor Hogue added two RBIs, Trent Stone scored four runs and Owen Stanley added a double.
Brandon Biller went all four innings to earn the win, allowing one hit and fanning 10.
The Hornets were limited to just one hit in losing the nightcap. Michael Harding had an RBI and Hogue the lone hit.
Stone took the loss, allowing four hits and striking six in going all four frames.
Elkins (3-2) visits Tygarts Valley at 4 p.m. today.
