WESTON -- Elkins High School's Kiley Edwards excelled in the Class AA Region II track meet held Friday at Lewis County High School.
Edwards, a senior, captured first in the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.73.
She was also a member of three relay units which placed first.
Edwards joined freshman Elizabeth Jones and juniors Gracelin Corley and Laney Fletcher in winning the the 4×100 in 54.11, the 4×200 in a time of 1:51.75 and the 4×400 with an effort of 4:19.80.
"Kiley and our relay units had a great showing in regionals," EHS girls coach Scott Biola said. "Kiley just recently started running the 200 open and has done terrific.
"I think the regional meet was only the fifth time she has ran in the 200 this season, including time trials, and I'm pretty sure this year was the first time ever she participated in that event."
Edwards' time of 26.73 in the 200 is the third-fastest recorded time in the state, according to runwv.com.
Only Winfield's Carli Boggess (26.31) and Oak Glen's Kami Ward (26.36) are ahead of Edwards.
All three relay squads Edwards is entered in at states are also among the top 10 in the state.
The state meet will be held Friday and Saturday at University of Charleston Stadium at Laidley Field.
