TV holds off Notre Dame; Tigers fall

MILL CREEK -- Kaden Moore stuck out 11 over 5 2/3 innings to lead fourth-seed Tygarts Valley to a 2-1 win over No. 5 Notre Dame Monday night in Class A, Region II, Section 1 tourney play.

The Bulldogs will visit top-seed Doddridge County this evening.

Jacob Wamsley earned the save.

Preston Heslep took the loss in going all six frames, striking out nine.

Austin Wilson had an RBI double in the third and Ian Harris picked up an RBI in the fifth for TV.

Cole Goldizen had an RBI in the fifth for the Irish.

Liberty 6, Elkins 3

CLARKSBURG --Fifth-seed Elkins dropped to the loser's bracket of the Class AA, Region II, Section 1 tournament with a 6-3 setback to Liberty on Monday night.

The Tigers will now visit the loser of today's game between Liberty at top-seed Philip Barbour Wednesday in an elimination contest.

Trailing 2-0, the Tigers dented the scoreboard in the fourth when Jaxon Drennen singled in Cameron Biller.

The Mountaineers picked up two runs in the fifth on Jace Bartley's RBI sacrifice and a run-producing single from Jayce Clevenger to make it 4-1.

Brock Holland had an RBI single and Gavin Carr raced home on a wild pitch in the sixth as Elkins cut the lead to 4-3.

But Liberty answered with a two-run double by Sammy Webber.

Bartley pitched all seven innings to earn the win, allowing five hits and striking out eight.

Biller went 1 2/3 innings for the Tigers. Drennen (1 2/3 innings) and Lincoln Scott (2 2/3) finished in relief.

Pendleton 4, Tucker 0

FRANKLIN -- Chase Owens tossed a two-hitter and fanned seven as fourth-seed Pendelton County blanked No. 5 Tucker County, 4-0, Monday night in Class A, Region II, Section 2 action.

The Wildcats will now visit top-seed Petersburg this evening, while the Mountain Lions face the loser of today's game between No. 3 Moorefield at second-seed East Hardy Wednesday in an elimination tilt.

Pendleton scored two runs in the bottom of the second and single runs in each of the third and fifth innings.

Clayton Kisamore, James Vincell and Dillon Smith had RBIs for Pendleton County, while Dustin Vandevander and Brayden Beachler two hits each.

Mason Kisamore went the distnace in taking the loss, allowing six hits, two earned runs and fanning five.
