ELKINS -- Grant Mealey connected on a three-run homer in Buckhannon's 9-4 win over Elkins Post 29 Monday night at Robin Harvey Memorial Field in Area 2 play.
Post 7 earned a split on the season with Elkins in the new-look Area 2 division, which also includes Bridgeport, Clarksburg and Morgantown.
Buckhannon struck for two runs in the top of the first when Zach Calef-Boring was hit-by-pitch and Alfred Isch and Trent Hunt drew walks.
Calef-Boring raced home on a passed ball and Isch scored on an error on the play.
Elkins picked up a single run in the home-half of the inning when Cody Cooper singled with two outs, Albert Gonzales drew a walk and Ethan Humphrey reached on an error to load the bases.
Matthew Pratt then drew a free pass to cut the lead to 2-1.
Buckhannon tacked on an unearned run in the second and another score an inning later when Isch doubled and scored on Isaac Lane's single to make it 4-1.
Post 29 loaded the bases with no outs in the home-half of the third when Cameron Biller walked, Cooper singled and Gonzales reached on an error.
But Hunt struck out the next two batters and got a groundout to end the threat.
Post 7 blew the game open in the fourth when Hunt singled in Ian Donnen and Mealey followed with his three-run homer to left.
Buckhannon added an unearned run in the fifth to extend the advantage to 9-1.
Elkins tacked on an unearned run in the bottom of the frame, along with Pratt scoring on a wild pitch.
Cooper, who was 3 for 4 on the night, finished the scoring with an RBI double in the sixth to plate Gonzales.
Hunt went the first 4 1/3 innings to earn the win, allowing one run on three hits, fanning six and walking three.
Brayden Hamer and Ryan Snyder finished in relief, each recording a strikeout.
Miles Hutzler gave up four runs on two hits and fanned three in going the first two innings for Post 29.
Wenkai Campbell and Gage Huffman also saw time on the hill.
Elkins, now 5-10 on the season, remains home at 7 p.m. today against Area 2 foe Morgantown.
Buckhannon (5-3) entertains Post 2 at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
