ELKINS -- While Philip Barbour cruised over old rival Elkins on Friday night, Tucker County needed overtime to stay perfect on the season.
With a 42-0 win over the Tigers (identical score from last season), the Colts are 4-0 for the first time since the 2001 campaign.
A win over winless Berkeley Springs this Friday night for homecoming at George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park, would give Philip Barbour its first 5-0 start in school history.
The Colts, third in the latest Class AA WVSSAC ratings, last made the playoffs in 2017.
The Mountain Lions, meanwhile, continued their winning ways with a 28-22 overtime victory at Eastern Local (Ohio) on Friday night as senior Blaike Adams had two rushing touchdowns, including the game winner in the extra session, and one from quarterback Ethan Rosenau.
Rosenau completed 20 of 30 passes on the evening for 208 yards, junior Jared Reall rushed for 67 yards and junior receiver Garrett Wilfong had a career night with nine catches for 118 yards.
Reall and Wilfong shined on defense as well with 12 and eight solo tackles, respectively,
Tucker County (5-0) was sixth in the latest Class A ratings and will return home in nearly a month Friday night against Pendleton County.
WEEK 6 SCHEDULE: Other games on tap for Friday night around the area include Grafton at Elkins, University at Buckhannon-Upshur and Richwood at Tygarts Valley.
The Tigers and Bulldogs will both be celebrating homecoming and each seek to pick up their first wins of the season.
