PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour utilized a balanced attack on offense in claiming a 42-0 win over Elkins Friday night at George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park.
The Class AA, third-rated Colts accumulated 325 yards on the ground as Nate Hulver and quarterback Kaden Humphreys each rushed for over 100 yards on the evening.
Humphreys also tossed three scoring passes, including on the opening series of the night when he hit tight end T.D. Bodkins from 21-yards out to give the hosts a 7-0 cushion just 2 minutes into the game.
Layna “Turkey” Grassi added the first of her six successful PAT kicks.
With 3:25 left in the quarter, Humphreys rumbled in from 14 yards out, and Philip Barbour then recovered its second onside kick in as many weeks to set up the next score when Hulver broke free down the sidelines for a 43-yard burst on the first play from scrimmage.

The Tigers mounted a long drive on their next possession — reaching the Colt sideline — but the drive stalled and a missed field goal led to no scoring by either team in the second canto, with EHS recovering a fumble inside its own 5-yard line late in the half.
Humphreys extended the lead to 28-0 with 6:57 left in the third quarter when he scrambled in from 14 yards out.
The Tigers again marched to the Colts’ 5-yard line before turning the ball over on downs as a penalty on first down thwarted the scoring chance.
The Philip Barbour passing game accounted for both touchdowns in the final frame when Cam Bennett got behind the EHS defense and raced in from 54 yards out with 10:14 left in regulation.
Humphreys and Bodkins connected again with 5:12 remaining from 56 yards to end the scoring.
Hulver churned out 111 yards on 11 totes in the win, with Humphreys 110 on 15 attempts.
Through the air, Humphreys was 6 of 12 for 181 yards with his three touchdown passes.
Bodkins had two receptions for 77 yards, both scores, while Bennett hauled in two catches for 80 yards.
Nick Bowers led Elkins (0-5) on offense with 141 yards on 21 tries.
Both teams will celebrate homecoming next Friday night as the Tigers entertain Grafton and the Colts will host Berkeley Springs.
