Colts entertain Bucs, Mountain Lions visit East Hardy; Tigers and Bulldogs on the road

ELKINS -- The third week of the high school football season features a pair of games this evening which could have possible playoff implications down the road.
Philip Barbour hosts Class AAA opponent Buckhannon-Upshur in the home opener at George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park.
The Colts were idle last week after claiming a 56-27 win at Grafton in the season opener.
Quarterback Kaden Humphrey directs the Philip Barbour offense. The senior threw for 213 yards and four scores while rushing for an additional 96 yards in the win over the Bearcats.
Senior Nate Hulver, junior Drew Morral and sophomore Logan Beam lead the running game.
Cam Bennett hauled in three touchdown passes from Humphreys in the opener. Junior tight end T.D. Bodkins is another receiving threat.
The Bucs evened their record to 1-1 last week with a 42-3 victory at Ripley as Wyatt Morris rushed for 135 yards and a pair of scores and the defense accounted for two touchdowns. Bryson Johnston and Luke Yardley also had scoring runs, along with quarterback Dawson Tenney. Carter Zuliani is one of Tenney's top targets.
Tucker County, meanwhile, travels to East Hardy in a rematch of last year's Class A playoff game.
The Mountain Lions are 2-0 as senior quarterback Ethan Rosenau has completed 19 of 20 pass attempts this season with eight touchdowns. Maddox Anderson has been on the receiving end of four TD passes. Jared Reall leads the run game, along with Blaike Adams.
The Cougars, who defeated the Mountain Lions in the 2022 first-round playoff encounter, are 1-1 on the season. They are coming off a 32-13 win over Pendleton County.
Elkins and Tygarts Valley both seeks their first wins of the season at Lewis County and Webster County, respectively.
The Tigers are led offensively by junior running back Nick Bowers and senior quarterback Todd Vandevender.
The Minutemen are 1-1 and defeated homestanding Braxton County, 41-0, last Friday.
Running back Jamal Nesbitt lead the Bulldogs on offense as they travel to Upper Glade to battle the 1-1 Highlanders, who dropped a 60-14 verdict last week to Williamstown.
Austin Gear and Jaxon Drennen, a transfer from Elkins High School, both saw time at quarterback in last week's loss at Tucker County.
All games are slated to begin at 7 p.m.
