PB senior reaches a milestone

PHILIPPI -- During the first half of Philip Barbour's win over Preston Tuesday night at George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park, Braylyn Sparks reached a milestone.
The Class AA-A all-state senior, who has helped lead the Lady Colts to the past two state title games, scored her 100th-career goal in a 10-0 win over the Lady Knights.
The contest was called at halftime due to the mercy rule.
Sparks netted four goals on the evening -- hitting 100 with 22:39 to play in the half. She is the second player in program history to reach the mark, joining Cassandra Triplett.
Twin sister Arrington Sparks and Emma Carter added two goals each, while Layna "Turkey" Grassi and Riley McCartney also found the back of the net.
Arrington Sparks had two assists in the game, with Grassi, Lily Lasky, Rylee Bodkins, Laney Travis and Kristen Bolyard adding one apiece.
Philip Barbour improved to 11-2-1 overall and 8-0-0 in Big 10 games.
The Lady Colts visit Buckhannon-Upshur at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
