PHILIPPI -- Class AA-A No. 3 Philip Barbour netted three second-half goals to claim a 3-0 win over No. 5 East Fairmont in a key Big 10 Conference clash Tuesday night at George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park.
The Lady Colts improved to 13-2-1 overall and 10-0-0 in Big 10 games.
"It was another tight game but we found a way to win," Philip Barbour coach Blake Williams said. "We had several chances in the beginning of the game to score but we squandered those opportunities."
Williams' squad cashed in on their scoring chances in the second half, however.
Arrington Sparks and Layna "Turkey" Grassi both converted off direct kicks to give the Lady Colts a 2-0 edge.
Caylee Simons later scored off an assist from Grassi to set the final.
"We made some adjustments in the second half that paid off," Williams added. "We were able to control possession and we had a great effort defensively."
Keeper Lillie Talbott recorded three stops.
"Lillie made a few big saves for the clean sheet," Williams said.
Philip Barbour returns to action at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at home against Lewis County for another Big 10 match.
