PB Colts win big on Senior Night

PHILIPPI -- Nate Hulver scored four touchdowns to help power Class AA, No. 11 Philip Barbour to a 42-14 win over No. 12 Lincoln Friday night on Senior Night at George Byrer Field at BC Bank Park.

The Colts (7-2) drove 71 yards in seven plays on the opening possession of the game to jump out to a 7-0 lead. Quarterback Kaden Humphreys capped off the drive with a 9-yard touchdown run at the 10:01 mark.

After forcing a Cougars (6-3) punt on the ensuing drive, Philip Barbour wasted little time finding the endzone again when Nate Hulver scored a 1-yard touchdown with 6:42 remaining in the first quarter.

The visitors cut the deficit to 14-7 late in the opening stanza when Lincoln signal-caller A.J. Bart fought his way in for a 1-yard touchdown at the 1:24 mark.

After the Colts defense intercepted a Bart pass early in the second quarter, Hulver scored his second touchdown of the game on ana 18-yard run that made it 21-7 with 7:43 left to play in the first half.

Philip Barbour scored once more before the half when Humphreys ran it in for a 2-yard touchdown, capping off a 12-play, 62-yard drive at the 1:32 mark.

The Colts extended the lead to 35-7 at the 7:28 mark of the third quarter when Hulver scored his third touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run. The score was set up by an 87-yard pass from Humphreys to Cam Bennett.

After Hulver picked off another Bart pass, he scored his fourth and final touchdown of the game when he scampered in from 10 yards out to make it 42-7. On the touchdown run Hulver also eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing for the season.

The Cougars trimmed Philip Barbour's lead to 42-14 with 8:11 remaining in regulation when Bart threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Maddox Perine.

Hulver finished the game with 122 yards rushing for the Colts, while Humphreys tallied 110 yards on the ground and completed 5 of 9 passes for 129 yards.

Bart threw for 239 yards on 17 of 32 passing for Lincoln, who will entertain Bridgeport next Friday. Philip Barbour will close out the regular season the same evening at Preston.
