HARMAN -- For the first time in several years, Harman is fielding high school and middle school girls basketball teams this season.
Natalie Teter is serving as the coach for the squads.
The high school team recently lost a 65-6 decision at Berkeley Springs. Jessie Heavner had four points and Haylee Ketterman had two for the Lady Panthers.
Maddie Close had nine points, Katie Risinger eight and Grace Risinger seven for the Lady Indians.
"This was a tough game for the Lady Panthers, however, I am proud of the girls' effort throughout the game," Teter said. "We have a young team and this game provided many opportunities for learning.
"We hope to continue to grow as the season goes on."
Harman is idle until visiting Pendleton County on Jan. 5.
The middle school team opened with a 32-18 loss at Petersburg and a 26-23 win at Warm Springs.
Pheobe Bennett had five points for the Lady Panthers against Petersburg, while tossing in 15 against Warm Springs.
Madison Thompson added five against Warm Springs.
"It was an exciting road game for the middle school team, and I'm extremely proud of the girls and their hard work," Teter said of the win.
The middle school squad will host Kasson at 6 p.m. Monday.

MARTINSBURG -- Petersburg dropped a 41-35 verdict to Martinsburg on Wednesday night,
Sam Colaw tallied eight points, Abby Alt seven and Nellie Whetzel and Shyane Tawney six each for the Lady Vikings in the loss.
Serentity Ritchie had 18 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs, who led 12-5 after one quarter and 25-18 at halftime.
Petersburg (2-4) returns to action this evening at home against Union.
