HAMBLETON -- Hurricane held off Tucker County, 41-39, to capture the Mt. Storm Powerstation Holiday Classic title on Friday night.
The Lady Mountain Lions (5-2) trailed 25-18 at halftime but outscored the Lady Redskins, 13-3, in the third to lead 29-28 entering the fourth.
"Hurricane outplayed us in the first half and then we fought hard to get back in it in the second half," Tucker County coach Dave Helmick said. "We had our chances at the end to tie or win it but just could not get a shot to fall."
Alex Anderson poured in 16 points to lead the Lady Redskins, including four of her team's nine treys on the night. Gabby Quijano added nine points and hit a pair of key 3-pointers in the final frame.
Brylee Wetzel paced the Lady Mountain Lions with 10 points, while Raven Matthews pulled down 15 rebounds and Macy Helmick handed out four assists.
Grafton defeated Frankfort, 50-21, in the consolation game.
Tucker County will entertain Moorefield next Friday.

SUTTON -- Tygarts Valley dropped a 44-36 verdict to Tug Valley in Braxton County tourney action on Friday.
The Lady Bulldogs will face Braxton County at noon today.
Summer Lewis-Smith had a game-high 18 points and Sarah Defibaugh chipped in 10 for Tygarts Valley.
Haven Deskins with 14, Bailee Hall with 12 and Selicity Baisden's 10 led the Lady Panthers.
