ELKINS -- Elkins High School's Isaac Anger is once again on track to make a splash in the upcoming swimming postseason.
Anger, a junior, captured the state title in the 50-yard freestyle last year and placed second in the 100 breaststroke.
He has placed first in an event every meet this season, including Saturday in the loaded Penguin Invitational field at Parkersburg, taking the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:00.31 and finishing second in the 50 freestyle to an out-of-state opponent.
Both the EHS boys and girls are having impressive seasons in the pool.
Elkins has several swimmers among the top five in regards to the Region III recorded times.
Anger is tops in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.31 and 500 freestyle (5:00.68) and currently second in the 50 freestyle (22.07).
He is also part of two relay teams that are currently second. -- the 200 medley and 200 freestyle.
The Region III meet is scheduled for Feb. 3 at The Bridge Sports Complex in Bridgeport.
The Big 10 Conference Championships also will be held at that location on Jan. 27.
Elkins has two regular-season meets slated before regionals and the Big 10 meet.
Schools competing with the Tiger squads in regional competition include Buckhannon-Upshur, Philip Barbour, Bridgeport, Robert C. Byrd, Capital, Charleston Catholic, Lincoln, Herbert Hoover, Riverside, Notre Dame, Grafton, Woodrow Wilson, Liberty-Harrison, PikeView, Doddridge County, South Harrison and Shady Spring.
The state meet will be held Feb. 15-16 at the Mylan Park Aquatic Center in Morgantown.
