Charleston too much for Senators

CHARLESTON -- Mountain East Conference leader the University of Charleston placed five players in double figures to hand Davis & Elkins a 100-58 setback on Saturday night.

Shunta Wilson led the Golden Eagles (23-3, 16-2 MEC) with 21 points, followed by Eddie Colbert III with 16, Tyler Eberhart and DeAirius Barker with 13 apiece and C.J. Meredith with 12.

Sam Rolle IV had 17 points and four assists for the Senators, who never recovered after falling behind 52-29 at halftime.

Nicholas Silva added 11 points and Charleston Ponds 10 points.

D&E (13-13, 8-10 MEC) remains on the road at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Frostburg State.

In the women's contest, the Lady Senators (2-22, 1-17 MEC) dropped a 75-62 decision to Charleston.

Taylor Smith fired in 22 points, Madison Butler added 12 and Jaela Reid 10 for D&E.

Nia Vanzant had 21 points and Clarrissa Francis 20 for the Lady Golden Eagles (17-9, 12-6 MEC).

Paris Stokes also reached double figures with 15 points.

D&E travels to Frostburg State at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday for another MEC contest.
