ELKINS -- Elkins will be the top seed for the upcoming Class AAA, Region II, Section 2 tournament after claiming a 45-36 win over No. 10 Robert C. Byrd Saturday afternoon in Big 10 Conference action at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.
The Lady Tigers used a pair of 3-pointers from Laney Fletcher and another from Maddie Belan to build a 13-9 lead after one quarter.
The lead grew to 22-15 at halftime and 32-20 after three quarters of action.
Martina Howe scored eight of her game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Lady Flying Eagles held a 16-10 scoring edge.
Belan led Elkins with 17 points, followed by Gracelin Corley with 12.
Carleigh Curotz also reached double figures for RCB with 11 points.
The Lady Tigers (11-6) remain home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to battle No. 5 Philip Barbour.
The Lady Flying Eagles dropped to 10-6 on the season and visit Preston on the same evening.
