DUNMORE -- The Pocahontas County girls advanced to the state tournament for the first time since 2020 with a 70-49 win over East Hardy Tuesday night in Class A, Region II co-final action.
The Lady Warriors, unfortunately, never took to the court of the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center in 2020 due to the event being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sophomore Calli Propst led Pocahontas County with 19 points in Tuesday's win, followed by freshman Allyson Taylor with 15 points and 15 rebounds, junior Riley Pollack with 10 points and four assists and senior Olivia Vandevender with 10 points.
The Lady Warriors (13-10) are the eighth seed in Charleston and face top-seed and two-time state champion Cameron at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the quarterfinals.
