HAMBLETON -- The Tucker County girls basketball is on a roll with the start of postseason action on the horizon.
The Lady Mountain Lions (13-3) have won five out of their last six games, including victories over Elkins and Petersburg, two teams that have appeared in The Associated Poll at some point during the season.
Senior Macy Helmick has been a four-year standout for Tucker County, which is currently ranked second, along with Gilmer County.
Helmick, whose father, Dave Helmick, is the Lady Mountain Lions coach and a former standout player at Tucker County himself, is averaging nearly 9.1 points per game in directing the offense from the point guard spot.
She also leads the team with 4.7 assists, third in rebounding at 4.0 per game and second in steals with 1.7 per outing.
Macy Helmick, who was a second-team all-state selection as a junior, signed to play at the next level with West Virginia Wesleyan in the fall.
Tucker County, which was slated to visit Grafton on Monday, night travels to Gilmer County in a rematch of a contest the undefeated Lady Titans won, 50-44, last month in Hambleton.
The Lady Mountain Lions then host Petersburg on Friday night, before entertaining Pendleton County on Feb. 13 and visiting Moorefield on Feb. 15 to conclude regular-season action.
