Whetzel fires in 33 points to lead Lady Vikings over Pocahontas County

PETERSBURG -- Nellie Whetzel fired in 33 points to lead Petersburg to an 85-49 victory over Pocahontas County on Wednesday evening.

The Lady Vikings (12-9) led 36-28 at halftime before outscoring the Lady Warriors 21-13 in the third quarter and 28-8 in the fourth.

Abby Alt chipped in 14 points for Petersburg and Miley Tingler 13.

Kynlee Wilfong led Pocahontas County, which visits Class AA, No. 2 Summers County on Friday, with 11.

Petersburg entertains Hampshire this evening.
