ELKINS — Elkins honored its seniors with a 12-3 win over Liberty Friday evening at Betty Heckel Field in Big 10 Conference play.

The Lady Tigers, who recognized Emerson Haddix, Emma Judy and Faith Browning during the evening, have now won three straight games to improve to 5-6 overall and 3-6 in league games.

Trailing 3-2, Elkins erupted for four runs in the fourth and six more in the fifth to end the game early due to the mercy rule.

Hailey Riffle’s two-run double in the fourth gave the Lady Tigers the lead for good at 4-3.

One out later, Addison Carr delivered a triple to left to plate Riffle and Haddix.

Maddie Lambert and Haddix started the scoring in the fifth with RBI singles, with Lambert racing home on an error on the play to extend the margin to 9-3.

After Carr singled home Haddix, Morghan Cox followed with a double to right that allowed Carr and Gabby Mahanes to find home plate and end the contest.

The Lady Mountaineers took a 3-1 lead in the second on Kylie Bumgardner-Swiger’s RBI fielder’s choice and a run-tallying groundout from Abby Davis

Carr went 3 for 3 and finished with five RBIs on the evening, while Riffle was 3 for 4 at the dish with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Haddix and Lambert also tallied two hits apiece.

Carr also took the win on the hill, going all five innings and allowing two hits and two earned runs and fanning five.
