B-U boys finish 12th in Class AAA; Shreve has two top 10 finishes for girls

CHARLESTON -- The Buckhannon-Upshur boys placed 12th in the Class AAA portion of the state meet held Friday and Saturday at Laidley Field.

The Bucs accumulated 23 points and were led Malaki Williams, who tied for second in the high jump with a leap of 6-6.

Dirk Riley was third in the discus with a toss of 146-10 and Carter Zuliani fourth (144-05).

Chase Hackett was sixth in the 300 hurdles in a time of 40.86 and Wyatt Morris was 15th (43.24).

The team of Drake Davis, Bryson Johnston, Landon Marple and Timothy Snyder was 13th in the 4×100 (44.81).

Johnston, Marple, Ian Strader and Davis were 10th in the 4×200 (1:31.95) and Davis, Snyder, Strader and Hackett ninth in the 4×400 (3:35.71).

Owen Cutright, Joey Nolte, Alex Sappey and Camden Carpenter placed 12th in 4×800 (8:37.43).

Hackett, Morris, Snyder and Strader turned in a time of 1:00.25 to place seventh in the shuttle hurdle relay.

In the girls meet, Samantha Shreve was fourth in the 3,200 (11:10.36) and eighth in the 1,600 (5:16.98) for the Lady Bucs

Abigail Hurst, Haley White, Rylen Carlyle and Alivia Cogar finished 13th in the shuttle hurdle relays (1:12.16).

Cabell Midland won the boys title with 108 points and Jefferson took the girls banner with 87.
