Lincoln knocks off Lady Colts

PHILIPPI -- Top-seed Philip Barbour will have to fight its way out of the loser's bracket after dropping a 15-7 decision to third-seed Lincoln Wednesday night in Class AA, Region II, Section 1 action.
The Lady Colts (19-3) will now host the winner of today's Elkins at Robert C. Byrd game in an elimination contest on Friday.
Adriana Elder led the Lady Cougars with six RBIs in the win, going 3 for 4 with a homer.
Alexis Williams and Angelina Wright also homered for Lincoln, which erupted for five runs in the second inning to break open a 3-3 tie.
Williams finished with four RBIs and Pearlman two.
Katie Kennedy, Preslee Fincham and Olivia Wilmoth led Philip Barbour, which had 16 hits in the game, with three safeties each.
Wilmoth had two RBIs as well. Katielynn Warner and Payton Holbert two hits apiece.
Williams worked innings to earn the win, allowing three runs on nine hits and fanning two.
Avery McDaniel was tagged with the loss, going the first two innings and giving up eight runs on five hits, striking out three.
Warner finished in relief.
