BRIDGEPORT -- Top-seed Bridgeport captured the Class AAA, Region I, Section 2 title with a 5-1 win over third-seed Buckhannon-Upshur on Thursday night.
Rowen Michaelis scattered one run on three hits in going the first four innings to earn the win for the Indians. He struck out four and walked four.
Carson Currey finished in relief. He didn't allow a run on two hits and fanned two in three innings of action.
Brody McDaniels was tagged with the loss, giving up four hits and five runs, only two being earned, over 4 1/3 innings. He struck out two and walked four.
McDaniels and Gage Parsons had two hits for the Bucs, while Jerin Westfall had an RBI single in the second to bring the Bucs to within 2-1.
Mark Biafore led Bridgeport at the plate, going 2 for 3 with four RBIs.
B-U concluded the season with a 13-17 mark.
