Wamsley’s HR lifts Post 29 to win over Post 68

ELKINS -- Jacob Wamsley's three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted Elkins Post 29 to a 5-4 win over Bridgeport Post 68 Tuesday night in Area 2 action at Robin Harvey Memorial Field.

Trailing 4-2, Post 29 rallied in the sixth when Chase Burrows reached on an error to lead off the inning and one out later Kent Rowan singled.

After a strikeout, Wamsley homered to center to make it 5-4.

Wamsley then entered in the seventh and retired the side in order to garner the save, striking out one.

Post 68 took a 1-0 lead in the second on Justin Duvall's RBI single.

Elkins claimed a 2-1 cushion in the third when Lincoln Scott singled in Wamsley and Kenton Haddix.

Bridgeport plated three runs in the sixth to regain the lead as Isaac Lough led off with a homer and Mark Biafore added a two-run single.

Ethan Humphrey worked the first six innings to earn the win. He gave up four runs on eight hits, struck out six and walked three.

Grant Lively started for Post 68, allowing two runs on four hits, fanning three and walking two over three innings.

Sean Via worked 2 1/3 innings, surrendering two runs on one hit and striking out three and Dylan Duvall 2/3 of an inning, giving up one run on one hit and recording two strikeouts.

Wamsley had a pair of hits to lead Post 29. Lough had two hits for Bridgeport in the loss.
